For the past eleven years, OUTstanding Amarillo has proudly served as our area's only organization providing outreach and support to people and their families coming to terms with sexual orientation.
OUTstanding Amarillo provides:
Community Center where we host safe, informative, healthy gatherings
Social events -- weekly, monthly, and annually
Weekly support groups & counseling sessions
Educational speakers and information to businesses, schools, families, and individuals
Referral services from a large network of community and national resources
Website and message board (www.outstandingamarillo.org)
OUTspoken--our community newsletter--six times a year
As costs and requests for all programs and services continue to rise--and funding opportunities decline--OUTstanding Amarillo is the only organization providing these opportunities to the 60,000 plus gay and lesbian people in the Texas Panhandle.
Our mission is to provide support and education for individuals and the community at large on diversity, sexual orientation and gender identification issues, especially as they relate to young people. We reach out to the hundreds of GLBTQ teens and adults who have no advocacy and often no other safe place to turn.
We're asking for your support:
Amarillo's Gay Pride celebration (hosted in conjunction with the national Gay Pride Week) is the only annual fundraiser hosted by OUTstanding Amarillo. PRIDEfest provides a significant portion of our operating expenses throughout the year and brings more than 1000 people out to celebrate our community. The week of events will begin with:
Kick-off rally hosted by many local clubs and supporting organizations
Film festival and Interfaith service during the weeknights near the end of June
Festival In The Park on one of the last Saturdays in June
Although our cause may not touch you personally, your employees, customers, family members and neighbors will appreciate your support.
