OUTstanding at a GlanceDid you ever wonder just exactly what OUTstanding Amarillo does all year long?OUTstanding Amarillo maintains:
Some details of our regular events Weekly Wrap Every Friday night at the OUTstanding Community House is a social gathering from 7 - 10pm. The ages range from 13 - 63 so far. Some weeks there are lots of young people, sometimes lots of not so young people. We watch movies, play games, eat, discuss hot topics, and often serve as a community support group during times of loss. This has been a regular event for almost two years and we continue to see new faces almost every week. Everyone is welcome to join in at anytime. Monthly Youth Pizza Party On the third Saturday of every month for several years, OUTstanding has been host to youth socials. This event is designed by the youth representatives for young people of varying ages up to 25ish, with two adult chaperones. All the local high schools, a few out of towners, Amarillo College & WTAMU are represented. This is a great opportunity to see what's going on at other campuses, and make new friends from your own school. OUTstanding buys the pizza and drinks and the kids take it from there. PRIDEfest PRIDEfest is a fun filled week of events near the end of June in honor of National Gay PRIDE month. Day 1 - In the past we have begun the week with a kick off party hosted by our local lgbt & family friendly clubs. Our Poker Run travels to each of our bars and generates lots of momentum for the upcoming week. Day 2 - This is followed by Gay Day at Wonderland Park. We tell all our friends to wear the same colored shirts so we can spot each other at the park. It's fun to watch our crowd grow each year. Days 4, 5, & 6 - Then we have a Film Festival during the week. This gives us a chance to see many of the movies that never make it to the big screen in Amarillo. Day 6 - Last but certainly not least, we have the Party in the Park, usually on the last Saturday of June. Here you'll see the largest gathering of lgbt people between Dallas and Denver. We have food, drinks, games, merchandise, volleyball tournament, a dunking booth and many other supporting vendors. It's a fun week for everyone so stay tuned for PRIDEfest '05. National Coming Out Day Celebration Each year National Coming Out Day is celebrated on October 11th. We join in by hosting an evening of reflection by sharing coming out history of ourselves, our community and our nation. Community Collaboratives
